Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: Owner insures yacht against fire, marine, collision risks, third party damage. Charterer relieved of liability covered by policy unless loss caused by charterer's gross negligence or willful default
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~80 HP engine burn roughly 6.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 134 L ≈ €261 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
How many people can be on board?
For everyone's safety, the number of people on board at sea must never exceed the yacht's certified limit of 12 guests, and only those listed on the crew and passenger manifest may stay aboard.
Do you check the skipper's sailing experience?
Yes. We rely on your stated competence in sailing, seamanship and navigation, and we may ask you and your crew to demonstrate this by taking the yacht out at sea with our representative aboard. We also expect your party to include at least one qualified skipper and one experienced crew member.
Where are we allowed to sail?
The yacht must stay within Greek waters. Please also plan your route so that you reach your farthest point within the first third of the charter, and are within about 40 nautical miles of the return port two days before the end.
Are there things we're not allowed to do with the yacht?
The yacht is for your private pleasure only, so please don't use her for racing, for towing other craft except in an emergency, or for any unlawful activity such as prohibited fishing or removing items of archaeological value.
What happens in bad weather?
For your safety, please don't leave port or anchorage when the wind is, or is forecast to be, above Beaufort force 6, when the authorities have banned sailing, or whenever conditions or the state of the yacht make safety doubtful.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
