Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The vessel is insured under the insurer's terms, which are handed to the charterer at takeover and form part of the contract. Insured damage that is not reported to the operator without delay will not be acknowledged, and the charterer is then personally liable for it.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~90 HP engines burn roughly 7.2 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 151 L ≈ €282 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or other pet on board?
Pets are not allowed by default. If you'd like to bring one, please agree it with us in advance, since we can only accept pets with prior arrangement.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. The boat can't be sub-chartered, lent out, used commercially or for fishing or sailing school, entered in regattas or races, or used to tow another vessel. You also can't carry people or goods for a fee, or skipper under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You can sail within Croatian territorial waters. Going beyond that needs our written approval. We'll also ask for your rough itinerary when you take over the boat.
What if the weather turns bad during my trip?
Please stay in port or at anchor if the wind is or is forecast to be over 30 knots, or if the port authorities have banned sailing. If bad weather makes you late back, tell us in writing and the late fee is the regular daily rate plus 50% instead of the usual triple rate.
Will you check our sailing experience?
We may ask you and your crew to demonstrate your ability to handle the boat at sea, with us on board. If we're not satisfied, we can either end the contract without a refund or put an agreed sailor on board at your cost for as long as safety requires.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
