Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Yacht is insured for liability and hull damage. Deductible corresponds to agreed deposit amount.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~90 HP engines burn roughly 7.2 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 151 L ≈ €282 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring a pet on board?
You may not bring animals on board without the prior permission of the base, and that permission must be given to you in writing.
What if I do not have enough sailing experience?
By signing the charter agreement you confirm you have the knowledge, experience and permits to sail the yacht in the charter area. If you do not, you must name a skipper who does, and who joins the crew and shares responsibility for the yacht.
Are there limits on how I can use the yacht?
You agree to handle the yacht carefully and by the rules of the sea. You may not carry goods for payment, may not have more people aboard than are listed on the crew list, and towing other vessels is only allowed to help a ship in distress.
What condition should the yacht be in when I return it?
You should return the yacht fully fuelled and clean. If final cleaning is included in your agreement, please still hand her back broom-swept with clean dishes and cooking utensils, otherwise we may clean her at your expense.
What if something breaks during the charter?
Report any defect, damage or missing equipment to us or our agent without delay and note it in the log, so we have the chance to put it right. Doing this promptly protects you from being held liable for the consequences.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
