Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charter company provides Kasko insurance of vessel to market value including fittings, with franchise in amount of charter deposit. Insurance covers responsibility for damage to third parties (goods and persons) to amount required by Croatian law.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~80 HP engines burn roughly 6.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 134 L ≈ €251 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Where can I sail?
Your sailing area is Croatian national waters unless we agree otherwise. Please stay within the host country's boundaries, avoid restricted areas, and keep to the sea-lanes.
Can I sail at night?
Night sailing is allowed only in good visibility and good weather conditions.
Are there things I'm not allowed to do with the yacht?
You may not run a commercial passenger service, sublet the yacht, tow another craft except in an emergency, or take part in any sporting competition unless you've been authorised to do so.
Do I need to show sailing experience?
By signing the contract you confirm you have the seamanship and navigation skills and a sailing certificate to handle a yacht at sea. If you don't, you'll need to appoint a captain who also signs the contract.
What condition should the yacht be in when I return it?
Please return the yacht with a full fuel tank and all equipment in order as listed on the check-list. We check it against the same list at handover.
