Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The vessel is insured by the owner against material damage and personal injury. The insurance policies are regulated by Brazilian jurisprudence.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~90 HP engines burn roughly 7.2 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 151 L ≈ €264 at €1.75/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Brazil?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: The Lessee must present a valid, internationally recognized license at the level required to command the vessel in the intended cruising area.
Can I bring my dog or other pets on board?
Not without permission. Pets or animals may only come aboard with our prior written consent, so please ask us before you book.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. The boat is for recreational use only, so no commercial use, no carrying paying passengers or goods, and no racing or events without our consent. Smoking is not allowed inside the vessel, and any illegal drugs on board end the charter immediately with loss of all deposits and fees.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You must stay within the cruising area set out in the General Conditions, and only in regions where the vessel is legally permitted to sail. Leaving that area can make you personally liable for any loss the insurance does not cover.
Can a friend skipper the boat, or can I hire a skipper?
If someone other than you will skipper, send us their license for approval first, and no unqualified person may take command. This is a bareboat charter, so any skipper or crew you hire works for you and advises on safety, navigation and anchorages, while you keep command.
What should I do if something breaks during my charter?
Contact us immediately and take reasonable steps to protect the boat, but don't carry out major repairs or book third-party services without our approval, unless waiting would put someone at risk.
