About this boat

The northwesterly builds after lunch and fades by night, so the Ionian suits a big crew: short hops between sheltered islands, a stable platform that stays level, and room to keep out of the sun. Easy provisioning and plenty of tavernas ashore.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: The yacht has comprehensive insurance for hull and equipment and boat liability insurance (no deductible, at least EUR/USD 1 million). The comprehensive insurance does not cover personal injury on board, the crew's belongings, or intentional or grossly negligent damage.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~54 HP engines burn roughly 4.3 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 90 L ≈ €176 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Can I bring my dog or other pets on board?
Animals can only come aboard with our prior written consent, so please ask us before you book.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
The yacht is for private use only. Regattas, commercial use such as training or carrying goods or passengers, and subletting are not allowed without our written consent. You also can't carry dangerous or undeclared dutiable goods.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
Please don't leave a safe port if the forecast shows 7 Bft or more for your next leg. In your last 24 hours, stay close enough to the return port to arrive on time, as weather alone doesn't excuse a late return unless it is truly unforeseeable force majeure.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You can sail only within the sea area agreed in your contract and ship papers, and leaving it needs our express consent. If conditions are unusual, we may restrict the area further or ban night sailing.
Will you check my skipper's experience?
Yes, we may ask for proof of your skipper's experience and licences before handover. If the skipper is clearly not able to sail the yacht safely, we can arrange a skipper at your cost or refuse handover.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
