Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: All boats are insured against third-party liability, damage to hull, machinery and equipment, and sea pollution liability. A deductible applies, depending on the yacht's value.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~114 HP engines burn roughly 9.1 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 191 L ≈ €372 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
What does the boarding pack cover?
The boarding pack is obligatory and paid in cash at the base when you embark. It covers final cleaning, port police papers, bed linen and towels (one set per person), a water refill, cooking gas, shore power at the base where available, one fill of fuel for the outboard, and port fees for the first and last day.
Do I need to clean the boat before I hand it back?
No, the final cleaning is included in the boarding pack, so you can simply enjoy your last day.
Can I add a skipper, hostess or cook?
Yes, all three are optional and paid at the base. Each needs their own cabin and provisioning. Rates are EUR 1,330 per week for a skipper, EUR 1,190 for a hostess and EUR 1,260 for a cook.
Can I do a one-way charter?
Yes, we offer optional one-way routes: Lavrio to Alimos, and Alimos to Paros, Mykonos or Santorini. Fees range from EUR 200 to EUR 700. On the Alimos routes you check out on Thursday instead of Saturday.
Which extras can I add for the week?
A dinghy with outboard is already included. You can also add a safety net, fishing equipment, a stand-up paddle board, a portable WiFi device or extra linen sets, all paid at the base.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
