Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The owner has insured the yacht against the risks required by law. The charterer and any passengers are responsible for damage or expenses not covered by the insurer that result from their unacceptable acts or behaviour under the insurance contract.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~114 HP engines burn roughly 9.1 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 191 L ≈ €287 at €1.50/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Turkey?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: No licence is required by Turkish law, but charter companies require proof of competence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate.
Are there limits on how I can use the yacht?
Yes. You can't enter races, tow other boats (except to give first aid), carry undeclared passengers or sublet the yacht without our approval. You also can't carry anything illegal on board.
Can I sail at night or in bad weather?
No. Apart from cases of real necessity, we ask you not to sail at night or in bad weather. Please plan your days so you reach port in daylight and in good conditions.
Where am I allowed to sail?
Your sailing area is agreed in your contract and you must stay within it. The yacht is permitted for use in Turkish waters only, and taking it outside them leaves you responsible for all losses and can lead to penal action.
What if the operator isn't sure about our sailing experience?
If we have doubts about your seamanship, boat handling or qualifications, we can assign a skipper to your charter. The skipper fee is paid by you, and this doesn't give you the right to cancel the agreement.
How many people can come aboard?
You can carry only as many passengers as your contract allows. As charterer you're responsible for everyone's safety and for confirming they're healthy enough to sail, and for any visa and vaccination formalities in your sailing area.
When is the best time to sail in Turkey?
April–October along the Turquoise Coast (Bodrum, Göcek, Fethiye); hot, dry summers with gentle afternoon breezes ideal for cruising.
