Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The Owner insures the yacht and equipment against fire, marine and collision risks, third-party damage, and any loss or damage in excess of the guarantee deposit.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~90 HP engines burn roughly 7.2 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 151 L ≈ €294 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
The yacht is for the private pleasure of you and your party only. Racing and towing other craft (except in an emergency) are not allowed. Please follow Greek rules on fishing, underwater fishing and archaeological finds, as a breach can end your charter.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
Your party must include at least one qualified skipper and one experienced crew member. We rely on the sailing experience you state in writing and may ask you to show your competence at sea with us aboard. If you don't pass, we may end the charter or put a seaman aboard, if available, for as long as safety requires.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
Please don't leave port if winds are forecast above 6 Beaufort, if harbour authorities ban sailing, or if conditions look doubtful. Reduce sail when needed, and don't sail at night unless all navigation lights work.
What should I do if something breaks or I'm damaged during the charter?
Report any damage to us by phone straight away and ask the Port Authority to make a written record. Repairs are at your expense, but you must get our approval for the repair first. If it's clearly normal wear, keep your receipts and we'll refund you at the end of the charter.
What if I need a tow?
Contact us first if you can. If you must accept a tow from another boat, agree the price beforehand and record it (a video is fine), and throw your own line rather than taking theirs. Accepting a line from another vessel can turn the tow into a costly salvage claim under international marine law.
