Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: All boats are insured against third-party liability, hull and machinery damage, sea pollution liability and equipment damage. The deductible (excess) corresponds to the agreed security damage deposit paid by the charterer.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not personally — this boat requires a skipper, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
The skipper needs a valid sailing license in English. Because of the boat size and the windy Cyclades conditions, we also ask for a sailing CV or other proof of competence, such as a track record.
Can I add a skipper or a cook/hostess?
Yes. A skipper is EUR 186 per day plus 24% VAT, and a cook/hostess is EUR 173 per day (basic) or EUR 200 per day (advanced), also plus 24% VAT. Crew costs exclude provisioning, and each crew member needs their own cabin.
What condition should I return the boat in?
You don't need to scrub the boat from top to bottom, because end cleaning is charged separately at EUR 250 for the Lagoon 42 or EUR 280 for the Lagoon 46. Please return it on time and in the condition you received it.
What extras can I add to my trip?
You can add a Wi-Fi router (20 GB per week, up to 10 users) for EUR 90 per week, a paddleboard for EUR 150, or a safety net for EUR 200. Airport transfers can be arranged on request. Provisions can be pre-ordered with no extra service fee.
What costs are not covered by the charter price?
Food, water and mooring fees are not included, except the first and last night in port. Everything else, such as the dinghy with outboard, linen, towels and cooking gas, is included.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
