Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Yachts covered by full comprehensive insurance and third-party liability with deductible depending on vessel. Insurance does not cover gross negligence, sailing under influence of alcohol or drugs, single-handed sailing, crew/passenger accidents (unless caused by defective…
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~114 HP engines burn roughly 9.1 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 191 L ≈ €334 at €1.75/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Tanzania?
For bareboat: Skipper must possess appropriate nautical experience, valid sailing license issued by recognized governmental organization, and SRC/LRC radio certificate.
Is there a minimum age to make a booking?
Yes. The person making the booking must be at least 18 and have the legal capacity to do so. Any passenger under 18 travelling without a parent or guardian needs a signed letter of consent, and you remain responsible for any underage crew on board.
How do you handle special requests?
We're happy to consider any special request you have. Please note we can only guarantee requests that carry a charge or that we've confirmed to you in writing.
Should I tell you about medical or other conditions before the charter?
Yes, please. Your safety and that of your crew matters to us, so let us know at the time of booking about any condition, medical or otherwise, that could affect your enjoyment of the charter.
For a bareboat charter, do you check the skipper's experience?
For bareboat, you confirm that you and your crew are capable of sailing the yacht in the area and conditions of the charter. If your skipper isn't arranged by us, we'll need their sailing CV in advance so we can approve them based on their experience.
