Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: The vessel is insured against third-party damage, fire, explosion, theft, natural disasters, marine and collision risks, except extras. The Charterer's liability for loss or damage caused by the Charterer or crew is limited to the agreed security deposit.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~110 HP engine burns roughly 8.8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 185 L ≈ €346 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog on board?
Only with our explicit written permission in advance. Please ask us before you book so we can confirm whether it's possible.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You can sail within Croatian territorial waters only, unless we agree otherwise in writing. We may also limit the range or ban night sailing if conditions are unsafe. Leaving Croatian waters without a written permit can make you liable for up to the full value of the boat.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. Racing needs our consent and may carry a higher fee, and towing is only allowed in an emergency, on our instructions. You can't re-charter the boat, use it commercially or for fishing for profit, or let minors or unlicensed people drive the boat, dinghy or fun pack.
What sailing experience does my crew need on a bareboat charter?
We check your skipper's qualifications and skills at check-in. If we find you lack the experience, we may require a professional skipper at your cost or refuse to hand over the boat.
What should I do if something breaks during my charter?
Tell us immediately by calling the base manager or the number in the boat's documents. Our technical support runs 24/7. If we fix the problem within 24 hours there's no compensation, and if repairs mean returning early because of our fault, we reimburse the lost days.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
