Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charterer responsible for reporting damages immediately to operator and insurance company.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~110 HP engine burn roughly 8.8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 185 L ≈ €346 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You must stay within Croatian territorial waters unless we issue you a written permit for an exception, and you should not navigate in restricted areas. Please only sail in waters that are properly covered by the charts on board after studying them first.
Might I be asked to prove I can handle the boat?
Yes. We or our representative may ask you and your crew to demonstrate your competence by actually sailing the yacht with us aboard. Any time spent on this check counts as part of your charter period, and if we are not satisfied we may place a paid skipper on board for as long as needed for safety.
When should I stay in port because of the weather?
Please do not leave port or anchorage if the wind is, or is forecast to be, over force 7 on the Beaufort scale (about 30 knots), or if the harbour authorities have prohibited sailing. You should only sail in safe weather conditions with good visibility.
Can I sail at night?
You may, but only with all navigation lights working and an adequate watch on deck. In rough conditions you are also expected to reduce sail promptly so the boat is never overpressed.
What can't I use the boat for?
The yacht cannot be sublet or lent to anyone else, entered in any regatta or race, used for any commercial purpose, professional fishing or a sailing school, or used to tow another vessel or to carry merchandise or people for payment.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
