Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: The charter company holds hull insurance, but this does not release the charterer from liability for loss or damage the insurance does not cover, or for which the insurer reserves a right of recourse against the charterer.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~80 HP engines burn roughly 6.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 134 L ≈ €229 at €1.71/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Spain?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: A recognised sailing licence is required, with an ICC typically requested for non-Spanish skippers chartering a bareboat.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. The boat can't be used for business or trade, sub-chartered to anyone else, or used to carry hazardous goods. You also can't modify the yacht or its equipment, and you shouldn't make any towing or salvage agreements.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
You must not leave a protected harbour if winds above Beaufort 7 are forecast, so you may need to stay put. Please also avoid running the engine while heeling more than 10° under sail, because oil and water supply to the engine can fail.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You need to stay within our maritime region unless we have agreed otherwise in writing beforehand. Please study the area in advance, including currents and sea level changes in strong winds, and report your arrival and departure to the harbour master wherever you visit.
Can I bring friends or other guests aboard?
Only members of your own immediate group may be on board, and no outside guests. Please make sure your group is complete before you book.
What should I do if something breaks or the boat is damaged?
Tell us straight away. For repairs costing over 100 we need to approve them first, and please keep the original of any part that was replaced. Repairs due to normal wear and tear are reimbursed when you present the invoices and receipts. In an emergency, tow the boat on its own line and don't agree any towing or salvage terms.
