Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The refundable security deposit covers any damage or loss of the yacht and her equipment during the charter.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Can I hire a skipper or a cook for my trip?
Yes. A professional skipper is available for EUR 150 per day plus food, and a hostess/cook for EUR 140 per day plus food. Please note the refundable security deposit is still required when a skipper is on board.
What is included in the charter price?
The price includes the dinghy and outboard engine, marina fees for the first and last night, one set of linen and towels per person per week, and administration fees. Diesel, water, mooring fees and airport transfers are not included.
Can I bring children aboard?
Yes. We offer a children's safety net for EUR 200, or EUR 250 for a catamaran. It is an optional extra, paid in cash at the base.
Do I need to clean the boat before I hand it back?
Final cleaning is obligatory and is paid in cash at the base when you embark. It costs EUR 120 for monohulls and motorboats and EUR 140 for catamarans.
Can I add extras like a stand-up paddle or a spinnaker?
Yes, on request. A stand-up paddle is EUR 150 per week and a blister/spinnaker is EUR 200 per week, each with EUR 500 additional insurance. Wi-Fi with 2 GB of data is EUR 50. All extras are paid in cash at the base.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
