Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. Estimated from engine power: at a typical planing cruise this boat's 350 HP engine burns roughly 53 L/h — about €60 an hour at €1.14/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Thailand?
Not personally — a skipper is included with this boat and holds the licence. Generally, though: No sailing licence is required by Thai law, but charter companies require a sailing résumé showing experience on an equivalent boat.
How much boating experience does the person driving the boat need?
For a bareboat charter, the person at the helm needs at least two years of experience driving a boat. Please make sure whoever will be operating the boat meets this before you book.
When is the best time to sail in Thailand?
November–April is the dry northeast-monsoon high season around Phuket; May–October is the wetter, windier southwest monsoon.
