Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Each yacht has kasko and mandatory insurance for all passengers. Damages up to deposit amount covered by customer; amounts exceeding deposit covered by insurance company.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. At a typical planing cruise this boat's 380 HP engine burn roughly 57 L/h — about €107 an hour at €1.87/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
What if I'm not experienced enough to skipper the boat?
If we conclude you don't have the necessary knowledge and skill, you can hire one of our skippers, or the base manager may assign a skipper for the whole charter at an extra charge. If you'd rather not skipper yourself, you can name a skipper before departure, who is then co-responsible to us.
Are there limits on where I can sail?
You're asked to stay within Croatian territorial waters and to respect all customs and other local regulations.
What's not allowed with the boat?
Please don't sub-let the boat, lend it to others, or use it for commercial purposes or professional fishing. Night sailing is only permitted in safe weather conditions.
Is there anything I need to check daily?
Yes, please check the engine oil and water levels every day. Damage caused by a lack of oil or water in the engine isn't insured and would be at your expense.
What condition should I return the boat in?
Please return the boat at the agreed place and time, clean and in proper condition, with full fuel and water tanks, just as you received it.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
