Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: All boats insured against: risks from liability to third parties, damage to hull/machinery/equipment, damage liability for third party and passengers, sea pollution liability. Deductible provision applied depending on yacht value.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Is a skipper required?
Yes, a skipper is obligatory and runs the boat for you, charged per day plus food provision. You'll settle this in cash at the base on embarkation.
Can we add a hostess or cook, and what do they do?
Yes. A hostess handles deck work and prepares breakfast and a light lunch daily, while a cook covers deck work plus breakfast, lunch and dinner. Both are optional, charged per day plus their food provision.
Can we start or end the charter in a different port?
Yes, one-way charters are possible for an extra fee that depends on the route, for example Athens or Lavrion to the Cyclades or the Ionian. Let us know your preferred ports and we'll quote it.
What's included in the charter?
Your charter includes use of the yacht and its full inventory, base mooring fees, marine insurance, bed linen and towels, blankets, and cooking gas. Food, drinks and end cleaning are arranged separately.
Can you organise extras like watersports or sailing lessons?
Yes. You can add a SUP, canoe or kayak, a spinnaker, extra linen, and sailing lessons on request, along with food provisioning delivered to the boat before you arrive. Extras are paid in cash at the base on embarkation.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
