Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: All passengers and crew are insured while onboard. Yacht insured against damage caused by third persons and fully insured against Acts of God up to registered yacht value.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. At a typical planing cruise this boat's 550 HP engine burn roughly 83 L/h — about €155 an hour at €1.87/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Is the charter skippered, and what does the skipper do?
Yes, we provide a professional skipper (and on some charters a hostess too) to handle navigation, mooring, anchoring and all port formalities on your behalf. The skipper also happily acts as a local guide, sharing tips on the best anchorages, beaches, restaurants and sights along the way.
Will the crew cook and clean for us?
The skipper keeps the deck and cockpit clean and the boat fully functional, but cooking and general cleaning are not part of the skipper's duties. If you'd like a hostess for those services, just let us know in advance so we can arrange it.
Can we bring our pet on board?
Pets such as dogs, cats and birds are not allowed on board without our prior approval. Please ask us before booking if you'd like to bring an animal so we can confirm whether it's possible for your boat.
How many people can come along?
You can only bring up to the number of guests the boat is licensed for, and everyone on board must appear on the crew list. Please make sure all passengers are declared before departure.
What happens if the weather turns bad during our trip?
Your safety comes first, so the skipper decides the sailing schedule and whether to spend the night in a harbour or at anchor based on the weather and forecast. Sailing in unsafe conditions is not permitted, and we can't be held responsible for delays caused by rough weather or acts of nature.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
