Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Each yacht has Hull and Third party insurance for all passengers. Personal property of skipper and crew not insured.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. At a typical planing cruise this boat's 310 HP engine burn roughly 47 L/h — about €92 an hour at €1.95/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
What can't I use the yacht for?
You may not sublet or lend the yacht, use it commercially, or use it for professional fishing. You also must not sail outside Croatian waters and should follow all local and customs regulations.
Can I sail at night?
You can sail at night, but only in safe weather conditions, so please plan your route with the forecast in mind.
What if you decide my crew isn't experienced enough?
If we feel the skipper lacks the needed skills, you can take a professional skipper aboard for an extra charge. If you'd rather not skipper yourself, just name your skipper before sailing.
Is there any daily maintenance I'm responsible for?
Yes, please check the engine oil and water every day. Damage caused by running low on oil or water isn't insured and would be charged to you.
What's the penalty if I bring the yacht back late?
For a late return you agree to pay one daily charter rate for a delay of up to three hours, and triple the daily rate for any delay beyond three hours, unless it's caused by an event outside your control that you tell us about immediately.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
