Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The yacht is fully insured. The insurance does not cover the Charterer's personal belongings, accidents caused by gross negligence, or accidents under the influence of illegal substances.
Do I need a sailing licence in Spain?
Not personally — a skipper is included with this boat and holds the licence. Generally, though: A recognised sailing licence is required, with an ICC typically requested for non-Spanish skippers chartering a bareboat.
Can I skipper the yacht myself?
No. All our charters run with a professional Captain on board, and bareboat charter is not available. The Captain is in charge of the vessel and of safety on board.
What happens if the weather turns bad during my trip?
The Captain decides whether conditions are safe. They can change the route or cancel the cruise for weather or safety reasons. Please follow their instructions throughout.
Can I extend my charter once we're out on the water?
Yes, if the yacht's schedule allows. Extra time is charged at an hourly rate, paid directly to the Captain right after the extra time is completed.
Are there any rules about behavior on board?
You and your guests must follow the Captain's safety instructions at all times. The Captain can refuse boarding to anyone who is excessively intoxicated or aggressive, and in that case the charter fee is not refunded.
When do I pay the balance, and how are extras settled?
Half of the charter fee secures your booking, and the other half is due by the charter day. Any extra hours are settled directly with the Captain.
When is the best time to sail in Spain?
April–October across the Balearics and Costa Brava; reliable warm summers, busiest in July–August with the occasional afternoon thermal breeze.
