Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Guest liable for all losses or damage to ship or equipment except normal wear and tear.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~425 HP engine burn roughly 34 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 714 L ≈ €1335 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Where are we allowed to sail?
Please stay within Croatian territorial waters for the duration of your charter, and handle the boat carefully according to good seamanship.
Are there things we're not allowed to do with the boat?
You can't hand the boat over to third parties, carry people or goods for payment, or take part in races or regattas. If you ever need a tow, please agree the salvage fee before accepting the help.
How many people can be on board?
The boat can't carry more people than are listed on the crew list or stated in the offer.
What should we do if something breaks during the charter?
For minor wear-and-tear repairs you can arrange the fix yourself up to 180 euro and we'll reimburse you against receipts, keeping any replaced parts. For larger damage or breakdowns, notify us immediately and take all reasonable steps to limit the damage.
What if a fault can't be fixed while we're out sailing?
If a repair isn't possible underway and it's reasonable given the circumstances, we may ask you to return early, in coordination with us, so the boat can be fixed at base. Where the fault is our responsibility, the charter fee for the lost time is refunded.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
