To pass a client's inquiry to Mermaid, open Inquiry in your Agent Dashboard, paste the client's message, check the fields it fills in, and click Handle Inquiry. Leave Operator and Boat blank, and Mermaid emails your client and carries on the conversation with them directly. You follow it in Messages, under Guests.

The client is linked to you from then on, so what they book counts as yours.

How to pass an inquiry on

  1. Open the account menu, click Agent Dashboard, then the Inquiry tab.
  2. Under 1. Paste the inquiry, paste the client's email or message. The fields below fill themselves in.
  3. Check Guest name, Guest email and Guest phone, and correct anything that was missed. Guest email is required.
  4. Check Message. It is required, up to 4,000 characters.
  5. Leave Operator and Boat blank. The note under them reads Leave both blank if the guest hasn't settled on a boat — it goes in as a general inquiry.
  6. Click Handle Inquiry.
The Inquiry form filled in for a client, Alex Morgan: the pasted message, Guest name, Guest email, Guest phone, Message, Operator and Boat, and the Handle Inquiry button.

You then see Inquiry is being handled and Mermaid emailed the guest and will converse with them directly. Click Handle another to pass on the next one. Clear empties the form without sending.

How to follow the conversation

  1. Open Messages.
  2. Open the menu at the top and pick your client under Guests.
  3. The conversation is called {client} & Mermaid. You are copied by email too.
  4. To add something, type in Write to {client}… and click Send. It goes to your client through Mermaid.

If the client already belongs to another agent

You see This guest is already linked to another agent. Contact support if you believe this is incorrect. Nothing is sent. Write to us if you think the client is yours.

Once your client picks a boat, hold it for them: see How do I hold a boat for my client and send them the link to pay?.

If something here does not match what you see, ask Mermaid in the chat, or write to support@charter.boats.
