Ellenabeich

Drop anchor off Ellenabeich, a quietly striking former slate-mining village on the isle of Seil, just 7 miles southwest of Oban. The whitewashed cottages clustered against the old quarry backdrop give it a look unlike anywhere else on this coast, and if you recognise it, that's because scenes from Ring of Bright Water were filmed here. It's a lovely spot to sit off and take in a place where serious industrial history meets some of Scotland's most peaceful scenery.
