Port de l'Herbaudière

Port de l'Herbaudière sits on the northern tip of Île de Noirmoutier and was one of the first deep-water marinas built in Vendée, opening in 1973 and expanded twice since to its current 574 berths. It has a real working-port feel, with fishing boats alongside pleasure craft and a village right at the quayside where you can grab fresh seafood straight off the boats. The island itself is worth exploring — pine forests, salt marshes, oyster beds, and the famous Passage du Gois causeway that only appears at low tide.
