Museu de Scrimshaw

Attached to the legendary Peter Cafe Sport, this museum holds what's considered the world's largest private collection of scrimshaw — the intricate art of engraving on whale teeth and bone. Opened in 1986, it spans pieces from the early 1800s right through to modern work, giving you a surprisingly deep look into both the craft and the whaling history that shaped these islands. It's a lot more captivating than it sounds — well worth the short detour.
