The Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc (HNK Zajc) is Rijeka's historic opera, ballet, and theatre house — one of the oldest and most prestigious stages in the country. The ornate building alone is worth a look, and out front you'll find a charming small park with a statue of the theatre's namesake composer, Ivan Zajc. Programming ranges from classical opera and ballet to contemporary dance, including works by internationally renowned choreographers like Ohad Naharin.
