Herodotos Spring

Head to the Keri Lake area to find this genuinely unusual attraction — natural asphalt seepages that have been bubbling up here since antiquity, famously documented by the historian Herodotus himself. The tar was historically used to waterproof wooden boats, which makes the whole site feel like a living piece of ancient industry. Walk a little past the main spring structure and you'll hit a wildlife-rich waterway that's worth lingering over for a while.
