This church in Palermo's historic center has a surprisingly specific origin story: it was built between 1526 and 1617 by a congregation of Neapolitan nationals, many of them hailing from Cava dei Tirreni — essentially a community of transplants building their own place of worship far from home. That sense of cultural identity is baked into the walls. You can enter from two sides, either through the portico on Corso Vittorio Emanuele or via Piazza on the other end, so it's easy to stumble into from the main drag.
