Tucked inside the atmospheric Linguella Fortress, this civic archaeology museum takes you on a journey spanning eleven centuries of Etruscan and local history, housed in what were once the fortress's old salt storerooms. Established in 1981 and permanently opened in 1988, the collection is organized topographically, making it easy to trace how civilizations layered themselves across this corner of Tuscany. It's a surprisingly rich stop if you want to go beyond Livorno's surface.
