Pregnant Church
attraction· 12 min from marina (980m)
Tucked into a quiet bay near Torba, Gebe Kilise — the 'Pregnant Church' — is actually an ancient Lelegian tumulus and monumental tomb that looks like a humble pile of stones until you know what you're looking at. The Lelegians were a pre-Greek Aegean people, and this circular tomb is one of the finest surviving examples of their funerary architecture. Pine trees press in on all sides and the sea sits calm just nearby, making it a surprisingly atmospheric spot to explore a piece of Anatolia's oldest history.
