Cerro da Vila

Cerro da Vila is a remarkably well-preserved Roman villa site where you can walk through the actual ruins of a 1st–4th century AD settlement right on the edge of the Algarve lagoon. What makes it stand out is the sheer variety on display — mosaics, bathhouses, fish sauce factories, and ancient burial monuments all in one compact site, giving you a genuine picture of Roman daily life rather than just crumbling walls. The on-site museum adds context with artifacts pulled straight from the excavations.
