This church has a fascinating layered history — it's built on the site of an early Christian church of St. Plato, a 3rd-century martyr who died in 266 rather than renounce his faith. Consecrated in 1280, it was part of a Dominican monastery that holds the distinction of founding the first university in Croatia.
