The Fish Market

La Pescheria (locally known as Piscaria in Sicilian) is Catania's legendary outdoor fish market, one of the largest of its kind in the world, sprawling through the streets behind Piazza del Duomo every morning. Fishermen unload straight from the Mediterranean and lay out an incredible spread of swordfish, sea urchins, octopus, and more on ice-packed slabs. Come early, it's loud, chaotic, and absolutely electric — and don't miss the grilled seafood stalls just outside the old city walls.
