Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The rental price includes compulsory third-party insurance, voluntary third-party liability insurance, kasko (own damage) insurance and accident insurance for the guest and passengers.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~50 HP engine burns roughly 4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 84 L ≈ €157 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog on board?
Pets are only allowed if we give permission beforehand, so please ask us before you book and bring your pet.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. The boat is for private cruising only, so no commercial trips, sailing schools, subletting or lending it to others. You also need our permission for regattas or races, and you may only tow another vessel in an emergency.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You must stay within Croatia's internal waters and territorial sea, away from prohibited zones such as military areas and poorly charted areas. We also ask you to avoid sailing at night, and to be at the departure port, or within 5 nautical miles of it, on the evening before your return.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
Please don't leave port or anchorage if the wind is or is forecast to be above 20 knots, or if conditions are unstable. Bad weather is not an accepted reason for returning late, so check the forecast and plan your return with a safety margin.
What if we don't pass the skills check?
We may ask the skipper in charge to show their nautical skills to our representative, at their cost. If they cannot show enough skill, or they lack a valid operating permit or radio certificate, we can refuse departure and cancel the charter, and the rental fee paid is not refunded.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
