Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: All yachts have third-party liability, personal accident and comprehensive insurance, with a deductible approximately equal to the deposit under the price list. Guests' personal property is not insured.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. Estimated from engine power: at a typical planing cruise this boat's 725 HP engine burns roughly 109 L/h — about €204 an hour at €1.87/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or other pets on board?
Only by prior arrangement. Please check with us before you book rather than bringing a pet on board without agreement.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You must stay within Croatian waters during your charter. You also need to follow the local regulations of the countries you visit.
Can I sail at night or in strong wind?
Night cruising needs our prior consent. We also ask you not to leave a safe berth when the wind is above 25 knots.
What if bad weather threatens my return?
Plan your trip so you can be back on time, because weather delays are not accepted as an excuse for a late return. If weather becomes alarming, inform us immediately.
What if we aren't confident enough to sail the boat ourselves?
At handover we check that you can navigate safely. If there is any doubt, you'll need to book a skipper, charged according to the price list. You can also request a skipper, deckhand or hostess when you book.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
