Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Vessel has compulsory and casco insurance with deductible, liability insurance to third parties, and personal accident insurance. Client insurance does not cover items brought aboard or damages from intentional acts or gross negligence.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. At a typical planing cruise this boat's 320 HP engine burn roughly 48 L/h — about €90 an hour at €1.87/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You may use the vessel only within Croatian territorial waters. If you'd like to temporarily leave Croatian waters and the boat has the right permits, let us know at least 30 days before your charter so we can prepare the necessary documents.
Is night sailing allowed?
No, sailing at night is not permitted. You should also stay moored at a safe berth if winds of 25 knots or more are expected, or if we warn you about the conditions.
Are pets allowed on board?
Pets are only allowed with our prior written consent, so please ask us before booking if you'd like to bring one.
What can't I use the boat for?
The boat may not be sub-let or lent to anyone else, used for commercial purposes, professional fishing or a sailing school, or entered in regattas or races. Towing another vessel is only allowed in a genuine emergency, and you must contact us right away if it happens.
Will my sailing experience be checked?
You'll appoint a skipper who holds a valid licence for the vessel, and we may ask them to demonstrate safe handling in front of our representative. If the skipper can't show sufficient skill or a valid licence, we can require a professional skipper at your expense; the time spent on this test counts as part of the charter.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
