Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: The owner insures the yacht and equipment against fire, marine and collision risks, third-party damage, and loss or damage in excess of EUR 3500.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~114 HP engines burn roughly 9.1 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 191 L ≈ €372 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
The yacht is for private pleasure only. Racing, towing other boats (except in an emergency) and subletting are not allowed. You also need the operator's written consent to take her outside Greek waters.
How many people can come aboard?
Up to 10 people at sea, and only those listed on your crew/passenger manifest. Your group must include at least one qualified skipper and one experienced crew member.
What sailing experience does my crew need, and what if we're tested?
We take your written statement of sailing and navigation competence as the basis of the charter. We may ask you to demonstrate it at sea with one of our representatives aboard. If you don't satisfy us, we may place a seaman on board for as many days as we consider necessary, or end the charter.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
For safety you must not leave a port or anchorage if wind is, or is forecast to be, above Beaufort 6, or if the harbour authorities have banned sailing. Night sailing needs a sufficient watch on deck.
What should I do if something breaks or I have an accident?
Contact us first and get our consent before arranging any repairs. Keep the receipts, because repairs due to normal wear are refunded at the end of the charter. After an accident or damage, ask the nearest port authority to make a written record and tell us at the same time.
