Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. At a typical planing cruise this boat's 75 HP engine burn roughly 11 L/h — about €22 an hour at €2.00/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Netherlands?
A Klein Vaarbewijs is required for vessels over 15 m or capable of more than 20 km/h; the ICC and equivalents are recognised.
About De Koornwaard
Tucked along the Appeldijk in West Betuwe, De Koornwaard is a solid base if you're looking to store your boat — they handle vessels up to 32 tonnes, covering both winter and summer storage. Read more →
When is the best time to sail in Netherlands?
April–October on the IJsselmeer, Wadden Sea and Zeeland; breezy, changeable conditions with long daylight in mid-summer.
