Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charterer covers costs of damaged or lost items; Lessor deducts from deposit.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~55 HP engine burn roughly 4.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 92 L ≈ €172 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You're free to cruise anywhere within Croatian territorial waters. The boat must stay within these limits for the duration of your charter.
Are there restrictions on how I can use the boat?
The boat is for private leisure cruising only. You may not sublet or lend it to anyone else, take part in regattas, use it commercially, for professional fishing, or as a sailing school.
Can I sail at night or in strong winds?
You may sail at night only in safe weather conditions and with a watch kept on deck. You should not leave port or anchorage if the wind exceeds force 6 on the Beaufort scale (about 30 knots) or if the harbour authorities have prohibited sailing.
Will my sailing experience be checked?
We may ask you to demonstrate your competence by handling the boat at sea with us or our representative aboard. If we're not satisfied, we can place a skipper aboard at your cost for as long as we feel is needed for safety.
Do I need to send crew details in advance?
Yes, please send us the names and addresses of all crew members four weeks before your charter begins.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
