Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The owner insures the yacht and equipment against fire, marine and collision risks and third-party damage, and against any loss or damage exceeding the security deposit or damage waiver (and excess).
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~55 HP engine burns roughly 4.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 92 L ≈ €179 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You can sail within the Greek seas only, and the yacht can't be taken outside that area. On a bareboat charter you should reach your farthest port within the first third of your trip. Two days before the end you should be within 40 nautical miles of the return base.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
Your party must include at least one qualified skipper and one experienced crew member. On a bareboat charter we may ask you to show your handling and navigation skills at sea with us aboard. If you don't pass, we may end the agreement or put a seaman aboard at your expense.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
The yacht is for your private pleasure only, so no racing, no towing other boats (except in an emergency), and no subletting without our written consent. Only people on your crew/passenger manifest may stay aboard, up to the yacht's maximum capacity. Customs, fishing and archaeological-finds laws must also be respected.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
Don't leave a port or anchorage if the wind is or is forecast to be above Beaufort 6, or if harbour authorities ban sailing. Safety comes first, but weather doesn't excuse a late return, so plan some margin for your final day.
What should I do if something breaks or gets damaged?
Contact us first, because repairs need our consent before you go ahead. If there's an accident or damage, ask the nearest Port Authority to record it in writing and let us know at the same time. If a tow becomes unavoidable, agree the price with the other captain before accepting it.
About Port of Volos
The Port of Volos sits right in the heart of Thessaly's capital, putting you steps away from the city's famous tsipouradika — the waterfront tavernas where locals pair tsipouro shots with endless small plates of seafood. Read more →
