Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charterer liable for all damages attributable to their fault or crew/guests fault.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~75 HP engine burn roughly 6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 126 L ≈ €246 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Are there limits on where I can sail?
Yes. You're asked to stay within the recommended sailing area, which covers the Aeolian Islands, Egadi Islands, north coast of Sicily, the Amalfi and Cilento coasts, the Pontine Islands, the Tuscan Archipelago, Corsica, north Sardinia and the north Adriatic.
Can I sail in any weather?
Please don't sail in sea conditions above force 5 Beaufort, and always follow the maritime authority's restrictions in bad weather. If forecasts predict rough conditions, plan your route so you can return early and stay safe.
Can I bring pets on board?
Animals aren't allowed on board unless we authorise them in advance, so please ask us before you arrive if you'd like to bring a pet.
Are there any activities that aren't allowed?
The boat can't be used for regattas or nautical events, water skiing or towing water toys (even with the tender), and you can't bring sports gear like windsurf, surf, kite or canoe. Towing or being towed by another vessel is only permitted in a genuine emergency.
What condition should the boat be in when I return it?
Please hand the boat back in the same condition you received it, with sailing equipment stowed and the galley cleaned. Waste should be collected and sorted only on the check-out day, with a maximum of three bags.
