Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Owner insures Yacht and equipment as per Greek law against fire, marine and collision risks, third party damage, and all loss or damage in excess of contractually agreed deductible.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~75 HP engine burn roughly 6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 126 L ≈ €246 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Could we be asked to demonstrate our sailing competence?
Yes. We may ask you and your crew to show you can handle and navigate the yacht safely by sailing her at sea with our representative aboard. If we're not satisfied, we can place a seaman on board at your expense for as long as we consider necessary, and that time counts as part of your charter.
What crew do we need, and who can be aboard?
Your party must include at least one qualified skipper and one experienced crew member, and stay within the yacht's maximum passenger number. Only people listed on the crew/passenger manifest may be aboard.
Where are we allowed to sail?
You must keep the yacht within Hellenic (Greek) seas and may not take her outside that area, or sublet her, without our written consent.
Are there things we're not allowed to do with the yacht?
The yacht is for your private pleasure only. You may not race her (unless agreed in writing), tow other craft except in an emergency, break fishing or diving laws, or recover objects of archaeological value.
What if the yacht ever needs to be towed?
Take every precaution to avoid it, but if it becomes necessary, notify us immediately and agree the price with the other vessel's captain first. The towing line must always come from your yacht, never from the towing vessel, as accepting their line can be treated as abandoning the yacht and lead to very high salvage fees.
