Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Owner to insure Yacht and equipment against fire, marine and collision risks and third party damage. Charterer relieved of liability for losses covered by policy except those caused or contributed to by gross negligence or willful default.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~55 HP engine burn roughly 4.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 92 L ≈ €179 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Will you check our sailing ability?
We may ask you and your crew to demonstrate your competence by actually sailing the yacht with our representative aboard. If we're not satisfied, we may place an experienced seaman on board at your expense, and any time spent on this counts as part of the charter period.
How many people can sail and what crew is needed?
Your party must include at least one qualified skipper and one experienced crew member, and you may never carry more people than the yacht's maximum capacity. Only those listed on the crew and passenger manifest may come aboard.
What happens in strong wind or bad weather?
You should not leave port or anchorage if the wind is, or is forecast to be, over force 6 on the Beaufort scale, or if the harbour authorities have banned sailing. You also should not sail at night without all navigation lights working and a sufficient watch on deck.
Can we race or tow other boats?
No. The yacht is for your private pleasure only and may not be used for racing or for towing other craft except in an emergency. If towing becomes unavoidable, agree the price with the other vessel's captain before allowing it.
Where are we allowed to sail?
You may sail within the Greek seas and must not take the yacht outside that area without our written consent. Plan your itinerary so you reach the farthest port within the first third of the charter and are within 40 nautical miles of the return point two days before the end.
