Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The vessel has the obligatory third-party liability insurance and casco insurance at its registered value, under the insurer's terms. Casco covers damage above the deposit amount arising from force majeure, but not damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or other pet on board?
Pets are not allowed on board by default. If you'd like to bring one, you need to ask us first, and an exception is only possible with our prior agreement.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You need to stay within Croatian territorial waters unless we give written consent to go further. Plan your route so your turning point back is no more than about two days' sailing (roughly 40 NM) from the departure harbour.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
For safety, you shouldn't leave harbour or anchorage if wind is above 23 knots or expected to be, or in generally unstable weather. Bad weather isn't accepted as a reason for returning late, so plan to be back in good time.
What if my crew doesn't have enough sailing experience?
We may ask you or your skipper to demonstrate sailing skills at handover, and you cover the cost of the test. If the experience isn't enough, one of our skippers joins you at the price list rate, and if you refuse, we can cancel the charter and keep the full fee.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
The boat can't be used commercially, for fishing for profit, sailing school, subleasing, racing or towing other boats (except in emergencies) without our consent. Only people on your crew list may stay aboard, and never more than the number the boat is registered for.
