Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Guest responsible for any damage, missing items, or breakage discovered at return; must reimburse for repairs
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~20 HP engine burn roughly 1.6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 34 L ≈ €66 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Where are we allowed to sail?
The boat must be used between safe, good harbours within the Western Mediterranean. Please plan your route to stay within that area for the whole charter.
Are there limits on who and what we can carry?
Yes, you must respect the minimum and maximum number of passengers, and the boat may not be used to carry paying passengers or cargo or for any kind of trade. Please also let us know your position once a week during the charter.
Can we take part in a regatta or race?
No. Please don't enter the boat in any regatta or nautical competition, and don't tow or be towed by another vessel except in a genuine emergency.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Please don't leave your mooring when the authorities have banned navigation or when sea and weather conditions, or the state of the boat, would put people or the boat at risk. Note that delays or interruptions caused by bad weather don't pause the charter or create a refund.
What condition should the boat be returned in?
Please return the boat at the agreed time and place with the same fuel, oil and cooling-water levels as at handover, and replace anything missing or broken against the inventory list you confirmed on arrival.
When is the best time to sail in Italy?
May–October, warm and settled in summer; July–August are hottest and busiest, with afternoon thermal breezes common.
