Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Additional insurance required for sailing outside Greek territorial waters
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~45 HP engine burn roughly 3.6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 76 L ≈ €148 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Can we bring pets aboard?
Pets such as dogs, cats or birds are only allowed with our prior written consent, so please ask us before booking if you plan to travel with an animal.
Are there limits on where and how we can sail?
Plan your route so that two days before the end you are within about 40 nautical miles of the return port. Please do not leave port if the forecast wind exceeds 25 knots or the port authorities have banned departures, and night sailing requires our prior written consent.
Do we need to prove we can handle the yacht?
At check-in we may ask you to demonstrate your competency by sailing the yacht in front of our representative. If we feel you are not able to take charge of the boat safely, we will engage a professional skipper at the rates in our price list.
Can we take part in races or regattas?
Competitions and racing regattas are not permitted without our prior written consent. The yacht also may not be used to carry persons or goods for commercial purposes.
What happens if there is a breakdown at sea?
For normal wear and tear you may carry out repairs up to 150 euros and we reimburse you on return. For any major damage or breakdown, contact us immediately and follow our instructions; before accepting any towing assistance you should agree the rescue fee first.
