Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: The owner's insurance does not cover loss or damage to charterer's or transported persons' belongings, civil liability for third-party property, or liability for transported family members.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~30 HP engine burn roughly 2.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 50 L ≈ €98 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Will you check the skipper’s competence before we set sail?
Yes. We may ask the person commanding the boat to show a command qualification valid for Italy. If at our discretion the skipper’s knowledge or ability is not sufficient for safely handling this type of boat, we can require a trusted skipper of ours to come aboard at your expense.
What should we do if something is damaged or breaks down during the charter?
Please send us a detailed written report within 24 hours of any damage or incident. You may continue sailing only if it will not worsen the damage or endanger people or the boat, and any repairs must be authorised by us in writing, including the cost, before they are carried out.
What happens if bad weather affects our trip?
We cannot accept responsibility for delays to departure or interruptions to the cruise caused by bad weather or by orders from the maritime authorities. Please plan with some flexibility in case conditions change.
How are we expected to use the boat?
The boat is for private pleasure use only and should be handled with particular care, in line with its technical characteristics and the agreed use. The charterer and the skipper are jointly responsible for following these terms.
