Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: Damages resulting from negligence may incur charges.
Do I need a sailing licence in Portugal?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: A recognised sailing licence is required — EU-issued licences and the ICC are accepted; confirm acceptance with the base in advance.
What happens if bad weather affects my trip?
Trips may be modified or cancelled because of weather, sea conditions or safety requirements, and the captain has the final say. If we cancel for weather or safety reasons, you can reschedule or get a full refund.
Can I bring children aboard?
Yes, but children must be supervised by you at all times. We give a safety briefing and provide life jackets before you set off.
Are there rules I need to follow on board?
Everyone must follow the crew's instructions, respect the vessel and crew, and avoid prohibited items. We may refuse boarding if someone is intoxicated, and damage caused by negligence may be charged to you.
Who is in charge during the trip?
The captain has final authority on all operational and safety decisions, including changing the route or plan. Please listen to the crew's instructions throughout.
Can I leave my belongings on board?
We recommend keeping valuables with you, as we are not responsible for loss of personal belongings.
