Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The operator provides third-party liability (R.C.) insurance and hull insurance for total and partial loss. These do not cover the belongings of the charterer or passengers, civil liability for third parties' property, or liability towards family members on board.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~54 HP engine burns roughly 4.3 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 90 L ≈ €176 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
What happens if bad weather affects my trip?
We are not responsible for delays in departure or interruptions to your cruise caused by bad weather or orders from the Maritime Authority. Please plan with some flexibility in your schedule.
What if the person commanding the boat doesn't have enough experience?
We or our representative can assess the commander's knowledge and skills. If we judge them insufficient for this boat or for safety, we may propose one of our trusted skippers to join you at your expense. If you decline, the contract ends automatically and we may keep the payments received.
What should I do if something breaks or the boat is damaged?
Tell us right away and send a detailed written report within 24 hours. Only keep sailing if it won't make the damage worse or put anyone at risk. Repairs must be approved by us in writing beforehand, including the cost, or they won't be reimbursed.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
The boat is for pleasure use only, and must be used carefully and in line with the agreed purpose and its technical characteristics. You and your commander are jointly responsible for any breach of the contract.
What if the boat can't be delivered on time or breaks down for a long period?
If we can't deliver your boat, we may offer a similar one within 48 hours and refund the unused days. If the delay lasts longer, you can confirm the charter with a refund for the lost time, or withdraw within 24 hours of notice and get a full refund with interest.
